Book of Mormon Readathon

In the beginning of April Viddy (with the help of his mom...ok she really did the whole thing) planned a Book of Mormon readathon for the youth in all the wards in the town we lived in. They read - or listened to the Book of Mormon be read to them - from cover to cover in just 3 days. It was over a three day weekend  and we started on Thursday night and finished reading the Book of Mormon on Saturday afternoon. It was an awesome activity. There were activities planned that related to what they were reading, food planned for all the meals and lots of snacks to keep the youth going.
Although it was a lot of work, Viddy and I thought that the youth who came really enjoyed it, learned a lot, and hopefully strengthened their testimony. I would highly recommend doing this activity in your ward, and if you need any info, ideas for activities, or things that we thought went well and things we would do differently next time, just let me know!

Fun with Hona and Kate

My good friend from high school came out to Texas with her little one and we had a blast. It was ton of fun because another friend from high school was able to hang out with us most of the time. Here are just a few things that we did:

We went to the zoo.

The elephants were my favorite to watch because they have so much personality.

Hona wanted to go visit NASA and I'm glad that we did. It was really fun and I learned a lot. It's fascinating to me that brilliant people can make something that can take people to the moon, and now the International Space Station. It's really nice being so close to something that has been a large part of our country's history.

We went to the park. I love our hair in this one!

At the children's museum.

We did lots of other fun things while Hona was here, including giving Hona highlights for the first time. They were very very subtle, but looked great.

We're Alive!

I realize that I haven't posted in months, so I want to start off and let everyone know that we are alive! :) Ok, but seriously, life has been great. So the next few posts will be some of the major things that we have done since January. We have also have had lots of family and friends visit us, so we have been able to do a lot of fun things around Houston. It's been awesome!
